FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Purdue University and the Lincoln Leadership Institute Expand Partnership to Offer Enhanced Leadership Development Opportunities

West Lafayette, IN – 06/13/2025The Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg and The Larsen Leaders Academy in Purdue’s Daniels School of Business are pleased to announce an expanded partnership aimed at delivering world-class leadership education to a broader audience through exclusive discounts and new collaborative course offerings.

As part of this expanded alliance, Purdue University will extend special discount opportunities for the Lincoln Leadership Institute’s immersive leadership programs to Purdue alumni, faculty, and strategic partners. Participants will experience world-class leadership curriculum, while networking with executive leaders from across the country.  In addition, the partnership introduces a new, historically grounded leadership curriculum developed by Purdue, which will complement the Institute’s established offerings with a suite of flexible, online courses.

Beyond the discounted immersive experience, additional micro-courses will be designed to work in conjunction with the Institute’s signature immersive programs in Gettysburg—where participants engage in the lessons of Abraham Lincoln and the Battle of Gettysburg to gain deep insights into communication, decision-making under pressure, and transformational leadership.

The Purdue Technical Assistance Program along with the Larsen Leaders Academy will develop this new series of historical-based leadership courses, providing a flexible learning pathway that compliments the in-person, experiential programs of the Lincoln Leadership Institute. These courses will draw on Purdue’s academic expertise and commitment to innovative education, broadening access to leadership training for those unable to attend on-site programs in Gettysburg.  The new courses are targeted for release by the end of 2025.

This enhanced partnership marks a shared commitment to developing leaders who understand the value of history, character, and context in guiding organizations through complexity and change.

I’m excited to expand our Purdue partnership. Over the past two decades, our Gettysburg experience has empowered over 30,000 leaders from more than 45 countries, and this new relationship will give Purdue professionals that same powerful edge.

Steve Wiley, Founder & President, The Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg

The Larsen Leaders Academy believes there is tremendous value in experiencing leadership outside the traditional classroom.  Our partnership with the Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg lets our students visit places of historical leadership significance, like where General George Pickett led his infamous charge and where Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain defended the left flank at Little Round Top.

Now, we want to grow our partnership to offer more programs, that will not only benefit our students at Purdue, but anyone wanting to realize their full leadership potential.  Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood home was in Indiana, and it was President Lincoln who signed the Morrill Act in 1862 which helped create Purdue University.  It is only  fitting that we expand our partnership with the Lincoln Leadership Institute.

About the Larson Leaders Academy at Purdue

The Larsen Leaders Academy was established in 2018 thanks to the generosity of Marshall Larsen (MSIA ’77) and his wife, Susan. Marshall was chief executive officer of Goodrich Corporation and was named one of the “100 best-performing CEOs in the world” by Harvard Business Review. The Larsen Leaders Academy builds leaders through enriching content and immersive experiences.  From battlefields that changed the world (e.g., Gettysburg, Normandy), to the epicenter of space exploration (risk and decision making at NASA/Kennedy Space Center), to ‘boots on the ground’ analysis of ‘what went wrong’ (Belfast/Titanic, Paris/Notre Dame Fires), our students are uniquely prepared to lead in volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous world.
